Yoga has an incredible history and rich tapestry of interwoven practical, ethical, philosophical and spiritual guidance, from which to draw upon.
In the yoga sutras we find many wisdom codes, known as the Yamas and Niyamas that teach us how to live consciously and mindfully.
For many people practicing yoga means to do a physical postural practice (asana) a few times a week, or perhaps everyday.
Although this approach can yield many benefits, such as health improvements and more vitality - the real power and transformative nature of yoga is uncovered when we engage with yoga as a way of life.
"Yoga is universal and its teachings are applicable in all situations." Judith Hanson-Lasater
Every yoga technique - from posture to cleansing practices to breathing to meditation - are tools for discovering the inner happiness of your deeper self.
We can bring these teachings to life through practice on our mat and expanding our experience to include more of them in everyday life.
By integrating these teachings we are guided into a sense of ease and peace within ourselves and ultimately a better connection with others.
We can then also more easily live in a harmonious way with nature, our environment and our community.
On retreat, we will support you taking your yoga practice further to increase your awareness and presence in everyday life through these broader yoga teachings.
The retreat is led by experienced yoga teachers Sarah McFadden and Florentina Lam-Clark.
Our approach to teaching is mindful, with care and attention to detail that will enable you to deepen your yoga practice.
We combine our skills in the art of teaching the physical asana of yoga, pranayama (breath-work) restorative yoga and mindfulness meditation.
It is our intention to provide and hold a safe space for you to expand and deepen your practice, to encourage your curiosity and thirst for knowledge, to connect on common ground and rediscover important values, hopes, dreams and aspirations.
We'll help you understand more of yoga's universal truths and how you can benefit from using them conscientiously in your life.
You will be encouraged to develop your own practice in creative ways that are mindful and easily incorporated into daily life.

Why you'll love this retreat experience
In many modern day classes the emphasis is on the asana. And that’s great in many ways because we all need to experience the joy of moving more fully.
But with this somewhat limited focus we can miss out on many of the other amazing teachings that complement and support our movement practice. Teachings that help you create a more peaceful and meaningful life, and feel more balanced and happy in the everyday.
Modern life - it’s fast pace, and consumer culture - can leave us feeling disconnected from the things that really matter. We speed through our days, missing opportunities for noticing, learning and growing - the experiences that bring us real satisfaction and that ensure we are making a positive contribution in the world.
How we act in our lives off of our mats, and the way we think about ourselves and others is just as much yoga as touching our toes.
This retreat will give you the opportunity to:
-
Slow down, rest, reset, replenish and rejuvenate your mind, body and spirit.
-
Stimulate your senses and creativity surrounded by natural beauty.
-
Explore and practice yoga in its many different facets to grow, learn and deepen your experience and knowledge.
-
Reconnect to yourself and nature, take time out for reflection and contemplation.
-
Experience, quiet, peace and stillness, connect to your inner wisdom and intuition.
-
Enjoy the company of like-minded souls.
We encourage you to switch off from the outside world and totally immerse yourself in the retreat, so you can return back home feeling refreshed, newly inspired, relaxed and rejuvenated.
The yoga experience
In this retreat, Flo and Sarah weave the deeper philosophical aspects of yoga into the teachings so that you can have an understanding of the foundations of yoga and where yoga originates from.
This can add depth to your practice as you expand your knowledge and experience.
We will use the Yamas and Niyamas as a template to guide us through our asana, meditation and restorative practice. With take-home tools, teachings and practices to help integrate into your daily life.
Morning yoga classes will be strong and energetic vinyasa flow practices, infused with connection. These classes will be taught by Sarah.
Evening yoga practices will be more restorative, helping to melt away tension, encourage reflection while in a deeply relaxed state - where it is easier to look inwards. These classes will be taught by Flo.
The overall experience will help you uncover what the yama’s and niyama’s mean for you.
You’ll be guided to reflect on your own life about how to take learnings, love and peacefulness off the mat.
Whether you are a beginner or more experienced, firm foundations in the dynamic Vinyasa Flow
practice will encourage you to improve your strength, flexibility, stamina and balance.
The practice of pranayama (breath-work) will help you to breathe with ease, clear energy blockages and increase your vitality.
Guided meditations and yoga nidra will lead you into stillness and peace, and restorative yoga will encourage you to relax, rest and to let go of deep-seated tensions.
This is the yoga and meditation holiday you're longing for deep in your bones.
Feedback from our students about other retreats with us
"It was such an amazing asset to the retreat to have a resident yogini healer!
Florentina integrates many types of yoga so there was something to suit everyone.
Also, having a variety of healing treatments available to guests throughout the weekend made the retreat experience very holistic. Florentina's healing is compassionate and intuitive; she brings a wealth of experience with her multi-disciplined healing and yoga practices. The retreat left me feeling renewed and centred. It was everything I hoped for and more! I recommend it to EVERYONE."
Andrea White, Teacher, Sept 2018
"It was brilliant to have Flo as our yoga teacher, meditation leader and healer at the retreat.
Not only is she a beautiful person, with a lovely energy - but her skills are exceptional!
Flo’s yoga classes were enjoyable, varied and masterfully adapted to the needs and mood of the group. She paid close attention to everyone and gently offered adjustments and help where these were beneficial, as well as ensuring all skill levels were catered for.
With Flo’s guidance and great tools, I mastered how to use my breath properly during yoga, after years of trying - a breakthrough!
She taught us great meditation and relaxation techniques, that have proven invaluable in my everyday life since the retreat. I’d love to attend another retreat with Flo - she is a truly gifted healer and teacher, and a wonderful inspiring person to be around!"
Jolene Coloquhoun, Coach, Sept 2018

She is a fantastic teacher and it was a privilege to share so much time practicing with her. The venue and food were also fantastic and the weekend was exceptionally-well organised. I had an amazing weekend and came back feeling totally refreshed and like I had been away for ages. Thank you!"
